Cards Marketing Officers – 16 jobs from Adelaide to Bangalore contracted to IBM

Functions include:

  • Actioning defaults or late payments on loans.
  • Marketing credit cards to new and existing customers.

This work involves customer contact.

Customer details required to be sent offshore include all accounts and financial information and contact details.

St.George did not consult with or provide staff with notice of their intention to review offshoring of these jobs.


Broker and Mortgage Services 18 jobs from Sydney to Bangalore
– contracted to IBM


Personal Lending 15 jobs from Sydney to Bangalore
– contracted to IBM

Functions Include:

  • Dealing with broker originated mortgages
  • Personal Lending including unsecured loans processing

What the bank said in response to FSU at their most recent AGM

  • Will not rule out further Offshoring
  • Did not directly respond to call to support legislation giving consumers a ‘right to know’ if their details are being accessed offshore, however, will comply with all laws.
  • Will participate in an industry dialogue on the future of skills and employment in finance.

St.George has guaranteed any permanent employee impacted by offshoring a position with the Group with current salary maintained.
